Coming Soon - the life story of my aunt.

Why should you care to read about the life of this woman? Even if you never met her or heard of her?

The short answer is that I've never met anyone who loved God more than she did, and she could have easily been angry at God and nobody would have blamed her.

As a writer, I've never been one for short answers, though, so here's the answer worth reading:

My aunt was one of those people who you couldn't help but love. She was "something special," as so many people I have interviewed recalled. She passed away in 2009 after a four year battle with breast cancer.

Before she was called up to heavenly home, I told her that I wanted to write a book about her. The world needs to hear her story. She gave me notes. She gave me dates. She gave me an outline. I wrote the first chapter, and then she started to get sicker. The cancer started to win. I wanted her to read the book, but every time I opened my computer to work on the book, my heart broke. Faced with the deadline of her impending death was more than what my 21-year old heart could take. Try as I might, I could not write her story.

Since then, I have tried to write this book a handful of other times and found it all too fresh. I still could not.

Then, suddenly and without warning, towards the end of 2023, I felt God guiding me back to this old project. I've been working on her biography ever since, and it's been quite the journey.

Truth be told, I have cried many tears. It's not been for the faint of heart, but God has been so clear that this is for me and the time is now.

I have interviewed her friends and family.
I have used her notes as a guide.
I have read her online health journal where her and her mother documented her health condition and treatments.
I have her prayer journals that I have been reading and weaving into the memories I am stitching together.

When you read her story, you'll follow her life through the formative years of childhood, into the college years and her life in the 1990's while she traveled the world, teaching and making friends everywhere she went before marrying the love of her life and setting roots in Honduras. In the early 2000's, she became a wife and mom before having it all ripped away when she gave birth to their second child, a special needs son with severe health complications. Weeks later, she was diagnosed with stage four breast cancer. Through it all, she loved the Lord. Her story is one of love, triumph, heartache, and how God carried her through it all.
